Noob-ish in Blender.

To start off I am kind of a noob at this. As I learn Blender software, I aim to become advanced in the Blender world. As I advance in Blender, I would like to discover easy tips and tricks. I have chosen Blender because it is FREE. It is also a great software that keeps getting better. There are great video blogs out there but not all of them. As I start my first blog I would like to go through Blender and some of the shortcut keys. Hope this will help you as you play around with Blender. You will need a keyboard and a mouse.

Interface

So we are going to start with the interface. I'll be working with Blender 2.78 version. Hopefully, you have your Blender downloaded and installed. When you open up Blender this will open up on your screen or something similar to it. You can open up one of your projects from the splash screen or start a new one. Click on the outside of the box. Go to file and then click new. (The short key for the new file is Ctrl N).

Shortcut to open recent projects.

To open up your recent project. Go to file and then click open. (Shortcut keys are Ctrl O). You will come up with this screen.

You also could open the most recent project by clicking file then go to open recent and select your project. (Short-cut keys are Shift Ctrl O.)

Workspace in blender.

There are 4 different windows in the workspace. When you open Blender, you will see something like this 3D viewport in red, Outliner in yellow, Properties in green, and Timeline in blue.

Hotkeys Commonly Used

This are some of the hot keys I'm familiar with. There is a lot more hotkeys for other specific things such as mapping and animation. I have never done mapping or animation in blender, but it looks like very similar to 3D Max software.  I'm excited to learn and create in Blender. I don't have a specific goal to learn it. This is just for fun. I would also like use my 3d printer that I got as gift. :)

I am going to leave it at this as my opening to blender. If you search learn blender for beginners, there will be several different videos. I have posted a link down below that I like for beginners. It well explains a lot more in the video about how to use blender. I'm going to start with the simple project modeling on my next post. Then do a 3D print of it. Thank you for checking out the post and I hope you'll come back and see what I'm creating.
